I was wandering through the small alleys and narrow streets of Chianciano Terme, Italy, when I heard some beautiful, soft singing. I turned the corner and saw this woman sitting on the window ledge. The light was highlighting her as she sang quietly to what I thought was her pet bird. I approached, setting up my camera and waiting until she noticed I was there. She turned, saw me and stopped singing, then smiled and looked down at her pet. In the cage wasn’t a bird, but a quite content cat. I asked permission to take her photo and she smiled and nodded consent. I took the shot, thanked her and kept wandering the streets. After I turned the corner, the singing resumed and I am sure the cat was happy.
